Wecome to Talanors
Congratulations on choosing your Manchester Terrier puppy. A great choice but we are a bit biased, aren’t we. Seriously though, your Manchester should bring you years of fun, constant amusement and companionship. It could also be a good way to a new hobby, meeting lots of other ‘Manchester Terrier people’ through showing, fun days, agility competitions and other get togethers in England and abroad.
Manchester Terriers like a bed, a home to call their own. This can be a basket, a cage, travelling box etc. with soft blanket of course. It is good for them to get used to sleeping in this cage/box at nights or travelling. They like the comfort and can usually be found lying in front of the fire or sunbathing but don’t let this fool you; they are a true terrier with the usual terrier traits.
Although they can be content in front of the fire, they are happy to be out running, playing or working. Some people do work their dog and Manchesters have been known to pick up the odd rabbit or two, as well as rats. They are a versatile dog, who are quick and keen to learn if trained. They can be seen in the obedience and agility rings at shows, I know of one Manchester who trains in ‘Heel work to music’
There is now a book about the Manchester Terrier, written by two of our club members. It is available through the British Manchester Terrier Club. We would be pleased to nominate you to become members of the club if you wish.
